Chef Rudy Acosta has strict instructions from his great grandfather not to mess with any of their Cuban family recipes. The giant serving of arroz con pollo amazed Guy with its savory flavors. He could not get enough of the ropa vieja, a house fave with shredded beef in tomato sauce, beans and rice.
This trip, Guy goes all animal. In Charleston, S.C., the husband and wife duo flying high for all things bird, like a duck club with homemade garlic mayo. In Queens, N.Y., a Cuban family crankin' out totally traditional steak and chicken dishes, like ropa vieja and arroz con pollo. And in Vancouver, British Columbia, the bar turned sausage joint stuffing, casing, and serving up links like the Thai chicken sausage.
This trip, Guy Fieri’s spending some time with family, friends and pho. First up in Morehead City, N.C., it's a walk down memory lane when Guy stops at a place he used to eat as a kid, and the hushpuppies and fried fish have not changed a bit. Then in New York City, it's a look back at ropa vieja and oxtail with an old buddy plus real-deal Vietnamese like bo luc lac in Cincinnati.
